adidas Originals and Italia Independent collaborate on Originals eyewear

Following the success of the footwear collection launched in September 2014, adidas Originals and Italia Independent join forces once again in a new, exciting project.

MIDO is indeed the stage for the presentation of an eyewear collection inspired by one of the most iconic sneakers ever made by the Sportswear Brand, the Superstar, first introduced in 1969, now reworked in a new guise.

A large wall of the booth is home to a good 50 models of the iconic footwear, each of which will be created in a specific colour, to which as many items of eyewear will be added, all with mirrored lenses whose colour changes based upon that of the frames. Two unisex models are chosen for this initial release dedicated to adidas Originals, both with an opaque surface finish: the 0901 model, one of Italia Independent's bestsellers, known here as 1969, and then the model with double bridge 0914, which in this version created for adidas Originals is known as Hero, completely black, with gold mirrored lenses. For this latter product, displayed in a special area at the centre of the space, the choice was made to use "thermic" technology, awarded as innovation of the year 2014 by MIT Review Italy. The eyewear characterised by this type of treatment changes colour upon reaching a temperature of around 30 degrees centigrade, revealing a different base texture, in this case a special pattern created with the adidas Originals Trefoil logo, on a uniform gold colour base. Special textures known as "shell toe" complete the customisation of the products, characterising the tip of the sneaker and making it immediately recognisable over any other, reproduced here on the external temples which have, on one side, the adidas Originals Trefoil logo and, on the other, the Italia Independent logo. The wording "Unique Edition for adidas Originals" inside the left temple completes the product customisation.
