ITALIA INDEPENDENT AT "THE EXHIBITION 2015"

The velvet effect in eyewear among the most significant Italian innovations of the past 50 years.

Milan, 18 May 2015 - Italia Independent is proud to announce that it will be taking part in "The Exhibition 2015", a travelling exhibition dedicated to celebrating the most significant Italian innovations of the past 50 years. Conceived by the Make in Italy foundation, which has always promoted the value of the Italian character by way of the Fab Labs and innovators network, the exhibition forms part of Expo 2015, in partnership with the Telecom Italia pavilion and the prestigious National Museum of Science and Technology named after Leonardo da Vinci.

There are so many innovations to admire in the exhibition: from Guglielmo Marconi's earliest radio equipment to the microprocessor created by Federico Faggin in 1971, via Video Online, the first Italian internet provider. And then there is Fiat's diesel engine, designed by Mario Ricco, and Programma 101, the first personal computer by Olivetti, alongside a number of works by young digital artisans working in research centres and in the countless FabLabs that are flourishing across the country.

Italia Independent took part in "The Exhibition 2015" with a special edition of sunglasses, the front frame of which flaunts the technology that has enabled the brand to assert its renown over the years: the velvet effect known as UV Lux®, which was conferred an award by MIT Review Italy in 2014.

The glasses dedicated to "The Exhibition 2015" were created by Italia Independent's Tailor Made Division, whose remit is to work on special projects, limited edition products that are fully personalisable and unique.

The colours chosen for this one-off "Tribute to Make in Italy" model are black and gold, which give the glasses a strong, decisive character while being elegant and refined at the same time. The lenses are also gold and 100% mirrored. The personalisation of the model is completed by the exhibition logo engraved on the inside left temple.
