Huvis Corporation reported earnings results for the first quarter of 2013. For the quarter, the company recorded an estimated $322.7 billion won in sales, $7.6 billion won in operating profit and $4.7 billion in net profit. The company's performance has thus shown a substantial improvement in the first quarter of 2013 in comparison to that of the previous term, with sales up by 4.7% to $322.7 billion won, operating profit having increased 104.0%, and even net profit increasing 1.0%.

All signs thus point to a clear recovery underway from the overall sluggish business conditions seen in the chemical fiber industry in fourth quarter of 2013 and 2012. Nonetheless, when compared with the same period of the previous year, there has been an overall decline across the board, with sales down 4.2% and operating profit down 51.2%. The analysis for the major reason of 2013 first quarter's weak performance is attributed to the poor demand recovery in the filament yarn sector, while the operating profit decline of staple fibers was found to have been insignificant.
