(Alliance News) - Getech Group PLC on Wednesday said that its Chief Executive Officer & Director Jonathan Copus plans to step down on February 28.

Copus was appointed as CEO of Leeds, England-based Getech in August 2016.

After Copus steps down as CEO, he will be available to the board and the executive team to ensure a "smooth and successful handover."

The geo-energy and green hydrogen company said it has begun the search for a new CEO.

In the meantime, Non-Executive Chair Richard Bennett will assume the role of interim executive chair. He joined the board in January 2021 as non-executive chair.

Chair Richard Bennett said: "Jonathan has successfully repositioned Getech's business and applied the company's geoscience and geospatial expertise to new markets within the energy transition, in particular the search for critical minerals, geothermal, hydrogen and carbon storage projects. The products and solutions developed are vital for these fast-growing sectors and form the foundation for the future growth of the company."

Shares in Getech were up 0.2% to 14.65 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
