Critical Infrastructure Protection Research Project to Be Hosted in Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C. in April 2020

Washington, D.C., Jan. 15, 2020 - FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced its partnership with the Army Cyber Institute ('ACI') at West Point to host the Jack Voltaic 3.0 Cyber Research Project in Charleston, S.C. and Savannah, Ga.

ACI developed the Jack Voltaic program to bring public and private-sector partners together to examine cyber attacks from the bottom-up. Jack Voltaic is a research project in the form of an operational exercise and will be a multi-city, multi-state infrastructure response experiment focused on local and regional incident management when facing significant maritime disruption.

This is the third installment of the Jack Voltaic exercise - an innovative approach to critical infrastructure resilience. Hosted by the City of Charleston and City of Savannah in partnership with FTI Consulting, the project assembles critical public and commercial infrastructure partners to explore local responders' coordination, capacity and expertise in cyber-physical incident management. The culmination of the research project will occur April 28-30, 2020 in Charleston and Savannah. The inaugural Jack Voltaic exercise was hosted in 2016 in New York City, and Jack Voltaic 2.0 was hosted in Houston in 2018.

'The Jack Voltaic series plays a key role in helping cities, states and regions prepare for a disruptive cyber incident at any moment,' said Ron Yearwood, a Senior Managing Director in the Cybersecurity practice at FTI Consulting. 'Jack Voltaic 3.0 will build understanding of existing cybersecurity capabilities as well as protection gaps in the public and private sectors. Partnering with ACI builds on our work toward creating a more secure and resilient future, both in the U.S. and abroad.'

'Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia are both home to critical infrastructure that supports civilian and commercial activities as well as the deployment of military forces overseas,' said Lt. Col. Doug Fletcher of ACI. 'Every single city faces cybersecurity threats seeking to exploit vulnerabilities, and Jack Voltaic is a venue by which cities can improve their cyber resiliency through practicing cyber incident response. Participation in the Jack Voltaic research project has grown each year, and it's clear that the public sector and private industry have recognized how coordination and shared training events increase effective incident response and ensure public safety and business resiliency. We are looking forward to working with the cities, our partners and FTI Consulting to host a successful Jack Voltaic program in 2020.'

'With the rise of Internet-connected devices, increases to global Internet bandwidth, and other innovative technologies, critical infrastructure - from ports to power plants - face more cyber threats than ever before,' said Anthony J. Ferrante, Global Head of Cybersecurity at FTI Consulting. 'The complexity and interconnectivity of industrial control systems require preparation for significant incidents or attacks that could impact operations, and the Jack Voltaic exercise does just that. With this partnership, FTI Consulting will be a global leader in hosting critical infrastructure protection training.'

Public and commercial participation in the Jack Voltaic 3.0 exercise has grown each year. Jack Voltaic was included in the National Defense Authorization Act ('NDAA') 1649, and ACI intends to publish a publicly available final Executive Summary in December 2020.
