Former United States Securities and Exchange Commission attorney Willie Briscoe and the securities litigation firm of Powers Taylor, LLP are investigating the sale of CREDO Petroleum Corporation ("CREDO" or "CRED") (NASDAQ: CRED) to Forestar Group, Inc. for shareholders. Under the proposed buyout, CREDO shareholders will receive only $14.50 in cash for each share of CREDO stock owned.

Under the definitive merger agreement, Forestar Group will acquire CREDO through transaction valued at approximately at $146 million which is expected to close in the second half of 2012.

The investigation centers on whether CREDO shareholders are receiving adequate compensation for their shares in the buyout, whether the transaction undervalues CREDO's stock, and whether CREDO's board attempted to obtain the highest share price for all shareholders prior to agreeing to the deal. According to shareholder rights attorney Willie Briscoe, "CREDO has shown positive growth over the last year and due to the lack of a significant premium to CREDO shareholders, and other factors, the firms are investigating whether the buyout price is fair to shareholders. Our proposed shareholder lawsuit seeks to obtain additional value for shareholders than what is proposed in the current buyout offer."
