FOLEY WINES ANNOUNCES ALASTAIR MALING TO FINISH
AS GROUP CHIEF WINEMAKER
Foley Wines announce that from June 30, 2021, Alastair Maling MW will finish as Group Chief Winemaker and Head of Viticulture at Foley Wines. Alastair will move to a consultancy role working alongside the winemaking teams at Te Kairanga, Martinborough Vineyard, Grove Mill, Vavasour and Mt Difficulty to further drive wine quality and reputation across all price points and brands.
Alastair Maling MW said, "This is a direction I have considered for some time and coincides with a directional shift by Foley Wines to base a dedicated senior viticultural person in Marlborough.
It has been a pleasure to work with such a talented group of winemakers and viticulturalists and I take great pride in seeing the Foley Wine portfolio develop in both wine quality and brand value. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a team and, I know that the team will continue to grow and develop in the years ahead."

Foley Wines are thrilled to have secured the services of Stuart Dudley as their Viticulturist Consultant based in Marlborough. Stuart is highly regarded in the industry and has recently finished working at Villa Maria (and prior to that Oyster Bay) to establish his own business.

We have made significant gains in terms of markets, through the quality of both our viticulture and wine making. Stu will be instrumental in further progressing the viticulture programme of the business."

Finally, Foley Wines is very pleased to have received the second stage building consent for their Martinborough development at Te Kairanga, with Holmes Construction being awarded the contract. Construction is expected to start in the next few weeks, the new barrel facility was recently completed in time for the 2021 vintage. The restaurant and cellar door are expected to be completed mid-2022.
