First Steamship Co., Ltd. announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was TWD 1,656.082 million compared to TWD 1,407.081 million a year ago. Operating income was TWD 237.202 million compared to TWD 22.690 million a year ago. Net income was TWD 45.871 million compared to net loss of TWD 87.012 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was TWD 0.06 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of TWD 0.13 a year ago. For the half year, sales was TWD 3,443.776 million compared to TWD 2,621.887 million a year ago. Operating income was TWD 410.165 million compared to TWD 68.085 million a year ago. Net income was TWD 47.430 million compared to net loss of TWD 235.400 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was TWD 0.07 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of TWD 0.35 a year ago.
First Steamship Company, Ltd. is a Taiwan-based company principally engaged in sea transportation businesses and the operation of department stores. The Company operates through two segments. Sea Transportation segment is engaged in the provision of international transportation services of bulk cargo and ship chartering services. It focuses on cereals, ore sands, coal and fertilizer, among others. Ships under the Company include Ever Blossom, Ever Shining, Ever Excellent and Ever Leader, among others. Department Stores segment is engaged in retailing businesses in Mainland China. It provides apparels, jewelry products, cosmetics products, footwear products, sports supplies and home appliances, among others.
