This weekend the traditional Salt Festival was held in Cardona, commemorating the region's rich salt history. One of the star activities of the feast was a guided excursion through the Vall Salina that took part of the Ercros grounds and in which nearly 70 people participated.
The excursion, dubbed "Journey to the bottom of the salt", combined explanations about the formation and geological characteristics of the Vall Salina de Cardona with nordic walking, a specialty of hiking in which participants walk with characteristic walking sticks.
The route started and ended at the Parc de la Muntanya de Sal in Cardona where attendees could taste Cardona salt, a local product present for thousands of years in the economy and history of the area.
