ENGIE Brasil Energia (EGIE3) was recognized for the third time as one of the world's 100 most sustainable companies, placing 23rd in the 18th annual rankings prepared by Corporate Knights, a Canadian media and investment consulting company. This year's edition shows a continued correlation between the main environmental, social and governance (ESG) metrics and higher investor returns. It also sheds light on the evolution of ESG priorities and results.

The consulting firm prepared the list based on a meticulous review of 6,914 companies worldwide with more than USD 1 billion in sales. The 2022 Global 100 companies derive 47% of their gains from products or services deemed "clean", and allocate 48% of their capital expenditures, R&D and acquisitions to clean investments. Each company is analyzed on a set of up to 23 environmental, social and governance indicators relative to their industry peers, using publicly available information.

The rankings were created in 2005, but Brazilian companies, or companies with operations in Brazil, began to be recognized in 2010. Only nine Brazilian companies have been recognized since then. ENGIE Brasil Energia, which has been ranked for the third time, is one of 3 Brazilian companies listed in 2022.

"We are increasingly recognized for our historical commitment to sustainability and governance, and getting confirmation from a ranking of companies from around the world underscores that we are on the right track. In line with the ENGIE Group's global positioning, we will continue to work based on a view of prosperity where economic growth must be deeply aligned with respect for people and the planet," said Eduardo Sattamini, Engie Brasil Energia's CEO and Investor Relations Officer.

This year's Global 100 launching event included a round table of leaders held in virtual format, focusing on how important it is for companies and governments to close the gap between climate change-related discourse and action.
