It's a promise and a confirmation: the Ituverava solar field in Brazil is Enel Green Power's largest solar plant under construction - once completed, its installed capacity will amount to 254 MW - and it consolidates the company's role as the most important solar energy player in the Latin American country.

The Ituverava solar field will enter into service at the end of 2017 and will generate more than 550 GWh per year, meeting the needs of more than 268,000 Brazilian households, and avoiding the emission of over 185,000 tonnes of CO2. For its construction EGP has allocated a total investment of some 400 million dollars.

The growth of EGP's solar power in Brazil is the result of a careful strategy and it reflects the company's commitment in the development of this renewable technology, which currently accounts for around 1,650 MW of ingoing or contracted projects worldwide. After the fast growth of wind power, which characterised EGP's first steps in Brazil, the company was awarded 818 MW of total capacity from all the solar PV tenders launched so far in this country. Besides Ituverava, the 103 MW Horizonte MP, the 158 MW Lapa and the 292 MW Nova Olinda solar fields will enter into service in 2017.

Enel Green Power in Brazil can currently count on an installed capacity of 418 MW, including hydropower (93 MW), wind (313 MW) and solar (12 MW). Additionally, more than 444 MW will be generated by plants currently under construction. After having secured 553 MW of solar capacity in a tender in August, the company currently leads the solar power sector in Brazil in terms of installed capacity and of its project portfolio. Also, it has recently been granted a concession for the management of two hydropower plants already online, whose total installed capacity amounts to 40 MW.
