• The system will consist in mathematical models based on similitude, which will be worked on together with the Universidad de Chile.
  • This informatics tool shall improve Endesa Chile's Monitoring and Diagnosis Center (CMD).

Endesa Chile, subsidiary of the Enersis Group, signed an agreement with the technological firm, Contac, which along with the Universidad de Chile, will develop a predictive technological application using mathematical models based on similitude, which shall contribute towards the predictive monitoring of the Company's electric power generating equipment in the country.

The objective of this agreement is to use this informatics tool to improve Endesa Chile's Monitoring and Diagnosis Center (CMD), which plays a relevant role in the ongoing analysis of the company's power plant operation.  The purpose of the above is to improve the power generation process, detect anomalies, and deliver early warnings regarding possible failures, so as to prevent them, and in that way define programmed maintenance, among others.

Among the expected benefits are the reduction of catastrophic failures and downtime due to unscheduled maintenance work, and being able to schedule maintenance, as well as reducing the time and costs of maintenance work, thanks to improved planning.

In addition, the new application shall allow reducing maintenance work, thus avoiding working on equipment which has normal behavior, thereby improving the prioritization of maintenance work and providing adequate information to specialists at the optimal time.

Should good results be achieved, the idea is to be able to extend this model to Endesa Chile's other power generating equipment and subsequently be able to transfer these practices to the remaining companies in the Group.

Endesa Chile and its subsidiaries operate 179 units throughout four countries in Latin America, with a total installed capacity of 13,455 MW. If 50% of the power from the Atacama Thermoelectric Plant controlled by the Company together with GasAtacama, a total of 182 units is reached with an installed capacity of 13,846 MW.

The company also participates in the Brazilian market, through its associate, Endesa Brasil, associated with Enersis and the parent company, Endesa (Spain). Endesa Brasil has 987 MW of installed capacity, through   Endesa Cachoeira and Endesa Fortaleza.
