EMPIRE DISTRICT ANNOUNCES SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE OUTAGE IN RIVERTON AND CRESTLINE, KANSAS

JOPLIN, MO - January 16, 2014 - The Empire District Electric Company will interrupt service to customers in Riverton and Crestline, Kansas, for approximately two hours beginning at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014. Customers should be aware that these times are approximations and the outage could be postponed or extended due to weather or equipment issues.
The scheduled outage will include the Riverton area and the Highway 69 corridor north to and including Crestline, then east along Highway 96 to the state line.
The interruption is necessary to allow crews to safely complete relocation of transmission lines in preparation for the combined cycle expansion project at the Riverton Power Plant.
