Ellen AB reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2012. For the quarter, the company reported total operating revenue of SEK 4,817,000, operating loss of SEK 723,000 and loss for the period of SEK 792,000 or SEK 0.02 loss per share before and after dilution compared to total operating revenue of SEK 5,177,000, operating loss of SEK 972,000 and loss for the period of SEK 949,000 or SEK 0.02 loss per share before and after dilution for the same period a year ago. Loss before tax was SEK 792,000 against SEK 949,000 a year ago. Cash used in current operations was SEK 8,884,000 against SEK 2,685,000 for the same period a year ago. Acquisition of tangible assets was SEK 46,000 compared to SEK 102,000 a year ago. Operating loss before depreciation and amortization (LBITDA) was SEK 555,000 against SEK 707,000 for the same period a year ago.
For the nine months, the company reported total operating revenue of SEK 16,329,000, operating loss of SEK 2,509,000 and loss for the period of SEK 2,404,000 or SEK 0.05 loss per share before and after dilution compared to total operating revenue of SEK 15,014,000, operating loss of SEK 3,203,000 and loss for the period of SEK 2,680,000 or SEK 0.05 loss per share before and after dilution for the same period a year ago. Cash used in current operations was SEK 10,432,000 against SEK 3,425,000 for the same period a year ago. Acquisition of intangible assets was SEK 381,000 against SEK 394,000 a year ago. Operating loss before depreciation and amortization (LBITDA) was SEK 2,010,000 against SEK 2,403,000 for the same period a year ago.
Ellen AB is a Sweden-based biotechnology company that produces probiotic sanitary protection products for women. The Companyâs main product, Ellen tampon, contains patented natural lacto acid bacteria, Lacto Naturel (LN), and is used for maintaining the vaginal health. The Ellen tampon is made of natural fibers treated with the substance LN, which consists of human lactic acid bacteria, a natural part of healthy women's defense against infections. Ellen AB distributes its products in 37 countries, including Scandinavian countries, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Poland and Belgium, among others. As of December 31, 2011, the Company had two subsidiaries, including the wholly owned Ellen Australia pty LTD and the 70%-owned Ellen Asia LTD. As of December 31, 2011, its largest shareholder was Banque Ohman S.A. (18.73%). On July 3, 2013, it launched an online store, www.ellen.se, where customers can search for products' information and shop online.
