Ekopak, the company of founder Pieter Loose and major shareholder Marc Coucke, is buying sector peer Global Water & Energy, or GWE, after a strong first half of the year. The wastewater recycling specialist announced this Thursday morning.

The details:

  • Ekopak is acquiring 100 percent of the shares of the GWE group.
  • This transaction will be financed partly with its own funds and partly with long-term financing.
  • Ekopak's management refers to the exceptional geographical, cross-sectoral as well as technological complementarity of both companies.
  • "This unique combination completes the circle in water recycling," said Ekopak.
  • Ekopak and GWE will have combined group sales of EUR 55 to 58 million.
  • Both companies will continue to operate under their own names, but will approach the market jointly when appropriate.

And further: Ekopak also announced growth figures for its own business: a near doubling of sales in the first half of the year compared to a year earlier. Ekopak on Thursday confirmed the outlook for stand-alone sales in 2023 of 25 to 28 million euros.
