Marking the beginning of operations in the new production plant of VitrA Tiles, Turkey's leading exporter of ceramic tiles, a ceremony was held on Friday, May 13 at VitrA's production site in Bozüyük. Eczacıbaşı makes a strategic move in healthcare The Eczacıbaşı Group has signed an acquisition agreement in pharmaceuticals of strategic importance for its activities in Turkey and international markets. The Group is further strengthening its presence in export markets by acquiring Gensenta, one of Turkey's first pharmaceutical companies, from the pioneering US biopharmaceutical firm Amgen. Eczacıbaşı Holding Chairperson Bülent Eczacıbaşı said: "This acquisition fuels our growth by adding local production capabilities in pharmaceuticals, biosimilar products, and active ingredients to our investment portfolio as well as export competency." A Meeting of Generations On the occasion of the opening of VitrA Tiles's new production plant, a gathering was organized for the employees of Eczacıbaşı Building Products and VitrA Tiles at the companies' Bozüyük campus. The Group's 80th anniversary was the centerpiece of conversation at the big Bozüyük meeting attended by Eczacıbaşı employees from different generations and occupations who contributed over the years to the development of the bathroom and tile businesses. A jury panel of 150 members chose Eczacıbaşı Group Chief Information Officer Gürkan Papila "CIO of the Year". Fazıl Say composed for Dr. Nejat F. EczacıbaşıAs part of the 50th Istanbul Music Festival, the world-renowned pianist and composer Fazıl Say performed for the first time his work "Portraits" dedicated to eight Turkish intellectuals, including Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı, who have deeply influenced him throughout his life. The audience was captivated by the performance and gave a standing ovation for several minutes. Say presented the handwritten score of the part dedicated to Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı to Istanbul Culture and Arts Foundation (İKSV) Chairperson Bülent Eczacıbaşı. Say remarked: "Nejat Bey obviously made outstanding contributions to the arts but there is one more thing he should be remembered by. He was also the teacher of a great many pharmacists in Turkey.
