Duro Felguera signs contract with Catena Carbon Industries in Canada

The contract is for the engineering required for the construction of a CO2 capture plant and another for green methanol production in the province of Ontario, in Canada.

The value of the turnkey project is initially estimated at 85 million USD.

Thursday, 10 September 2020. Duro Felguera, a Spanish company specializing in the delivery of turnkey projects and the provision of specialized services in the energy, mining & handling and oil & gas sectors, has signed a contract with the Canadian company Catena Carbon Industries for the engineering required for the construction of a CO2 capture plant for a hospital and another for green methanol production in an industrial park, both in the province of Ontario in Canada.

The contract includes the front-end engineering design (FEED) underlying the delivery of the turnkey project. The value of the project is initially estimated at 85 million USD.

Duro Felguera has been working together with the customer since the beginning of the year in order to prepare the feasibility study, select the technology for the processes of the two plants and define the manufacturing and modular construction strategy.

The engineering contract is the initial stage of the overall agreement with the client. Together with the engineering, Duro Felguera will deliver the turnkey project and consequently the EPC contract for the construction of the two plants. The start of the construction phase is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.

This project reaffirms DF's strategy for participating in projects for top-level markets that are committed to the environment and renewable energies. Likewise, the contract consolidates Duro Felguera as a reference company in the sector for the delivery of turnkey projects including technology, manufacturing and construction.
