Large coal carrier 「SHOYO」equipped with our dual-fuel engine「6DE20DF」entered service.

The large coal carrier "SHOYO" equipped with our dual-fuel engine "6DE20DF" entered service for NYK Line on October 2. This vessel is the first bulk carrier to be equipped with our dual-fuel engines.

The vessel is the first LNG-fueledlarge-scale coal vessel in the world, and is a next-generationeco-friendly vessel that is expected to reduce sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions by almost 100%, nitrogen oxide (NOx) by around 80%, and carbon dioxide (CO2) by around 30% compared to conventional bulk carrier.

It will be operated by NYK Line, and coal will be transported from overseas for the coal-fired power plant of Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.

The 6DE20DF engine installed on board the vessel is an environmentally friendly, high-performance engine that can switch between LNG-fueled gas mode and liquid-fueled diesel mode depending on conditions, reducing not only CO2 but also SOx, NOx and PM (particulate matter) at the same time.

We have a lineup of LNG-fired technologies with an output of 670~4,080kW in four types, and we expect to ship a total of 76 units this month.
