News Releases 2024/05 TaiwanCTCI Helps Develop Green Transportation with Official Power Supply of Taipei Metro's WanDa Line Jincheng Depot

Taipei, May 22, 2024- In a consortium with French transportation solutions provider Alstom, CTCI has contracted the phase 1 and 2 electrical and mechanical (E&M) work to Taipei Metro's WanDa Line, with the official completion of the 161kV Jincheng depot bulk supply substation (BSS) power supply from Taipower in May. This milestone marks the operation of the most important power source, and will be followed by electrical test operations when the first train arrives in Taiwan in the second half of this year, providing electricity to different kinds of equipment and collaborating with civil and track construction to accelerate the work of integrating sub-systems for making great strikes towards completion.

Divided into two phases of construction, the WanDa Line (Wanda Zhonghe Shulin Line) is a medium capacity driverless transit system, adopting underground and elevated metro systems with a 22.8-km route, 22 stations and one depot, and will be a convenient and green transportation service
that connects Taipei City's Zhongzheng, Wanhua District and New Taipei City's Zhonghe, Younghe, Tucheng, Shulin, and Xinzhuang District. The scope of this project encompasses electric multiple units, dashboard monitoring (platform screen doors included), power supply, telecommunication, automatic fare collection system, track work, depot equipment, and system integration and management.
Flowing from Taipower Banqiao extra-high voltage substation, the alternating extra-high voltages are lowered through the 161kV/22kV bulk supply substation, contributing to the completion of Jincheng depot main electricity substation power supply. The lowered electricity voltages are further converted to 750V direct current (DC) via the traction power electricity substation for the operation of electric multiple units. At the same time, the lowered electricity voltages undergo conversion via the 22kV/380V cast resin transformer in the facility power substation (FPSS) for the power supply in stations.
Rooted in the transportation field for over 30 years, CTCI is a market leader and a leading services provider in Taiwan's MRT E&M System. CTCI will continue upholding the corporate vision of being "the most reliable global engineering services provider," supporting the Taipei City Government to develop green transportation that connects both Taipei and New Taipei City to realize the goal of building a low-carbon sustainable city.
