On September 15, Mr. Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals' President and Deputy Party Group Secretary and MCC Chairman, met with Zhao Xiaochen, President and Party Group Secretary of GRINM GROUP CORPRATION LIMITED (GRINM Group).
The two leaders exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation, and attended the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between China Minmetals Rare Earth Co., Ltd. and Grinm Advanced Materials Co., Ltd.
Guo Wenqing extended a warm welcome to Zhao Xiaochen and expressed sincere gratitude to GRINM Group for its long-term strong support for China Minmetals. At the meeting, Guo Wenqing gave a brief introduction to the evolution of China Minmetals and MCC (both among the Fortune Global 500) as well as the achievements since the strategic restructuring of China Minmetals and MCC. Guo Wenqing said that since the strategic restructuring of China Minmetals and MCC in December 2015, China Minmetals had been following the strategic goal of 'quadrupling in three steps', committing to the building of metal mining, metallurgical development, trade and logistics, finance, and the real estate, and consolidating the business system featured by 'four beams and eight columns'. With business risks defused in the process of advancement and problems of development tackled in the process of reform, we, through arduous work of more than 4 years, pushed China Minmetals into a first-ever stage of high-quality development. The assets under the management of China Minmetals now reach RMB 2.16 trillion, and the business revenue in 2019 exceeded RMB 600 billion, making China Minmetals rank 92nd among the Fortune Global 500. Guided by the important instruction made by General Secretary Xi Jinping for developing a new development landscape dominated by domestic major circulation and supported by both international circulation and domestic circulation, we concentrate on our business scope to actively advance the exchange and cooperation with leading enterprises in the field.
Guo Wenqing stressed that the important guiding principles, made by General Secretary Xi Jinping about the development of rare earth industry, had charted the course for and provided the fundamental for, green, healthy and sustainable development of rare earth industry in China. As one of the six rare earth groups registered at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, China Minmetals Rare Earth Co., Ltd. is leading the world in rare earth extraction, environmental protection technology and product quality control level, and has developed a complete industrial chain integrating rare earth mining, smelting separation and downstream deep processing. With strong technological strength and advanced industrial technology, Grinm Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. has made remarkable contribution to the building, development and upgrading of the rare earth industry system in China. It is wished that both sides shall take this strategic cooperation agreement as a new starting point and fully implement the important guiding principles made by General Secretary Xi Jinping about rare earth industry development. For this reason, both sides need to maximize each own strengths, intensify innovation in science and technology, speed up the application of technology industrialization and advance multidimensional, deep and multi-discipline win-win cooperation, to continue to improve the technological level of development and utilization of rare earth and contribute more to high-quality development of the rare earth industry in China.
Zhao Xiaochen expressed sincere thanks to the warm reception of Mr. Guo Wenqing and to China Minmetals for its long-term strong support for GRINM Group. Mr. Zhao also recognized the achievements of China Minmetals since the strategic structuring and outlined the strategic focus and basic information of GRINM Group. Mr. Zhao said that in recent years, GRINM Group had worked to pursue innovation-driven quality development strategy, focused on the building of innovation system and talent system and vigorously promoted innovation in platform and GRINM Group. Mr. Zhao pointed out that in terms of technological cooperation on the rare earth industry, GRINM Group and China Minmetals had a solid foundation and a profound friendship. Mr. Zhao also stated that China Minmetals had strong strength in resource development, trade and logistics, industrial application and fund input, while GRINM Group, as a specialist of technological research of nonferrous metals, had outstanding edges in new materials, new process and new equipment research. He expressed his wish that China Minmetals Rare Earth Co., Ltd. and Grinm Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. will take this signing ceremony as an opportunity, and expand cooperation fields, deepen the level of cooperation and explore innovations to the pattern of cooperation under the important guiding principles made by General Secretary Xi Jinping about rare earth industry development, to realize win-win outcome and promote green and healthy development of rare earth industry in China.
The two leaders also had extensive and deep discussions on the issues of common interests.
After the meeting, under the witness of Guo Wenqing and Zhao Xiaochen, Liu Leiyun, President and Acting Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals Rare Earth Co., Ltd., and Yu Dunbo, President of Grinm Advanced Materials Co., Ltd., on behalf of China Minmetals Rare Earth Co., Ltd. and Grinm Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. respectively, signed the strategic cooperation agreement. Present at the signing ceremony were Dong Mingjun, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals, Jiao Jian, Vice President and Party Member of China Minmetals, Zhang Mengxing, Deputy Party Group Secretary and President of MCC, Wang Chen and Zhou Qigang, Vice President and Member of Party Committee of GRINM Group, and Huang Xiaowei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Expert of GRINM Group. Mr. Jiao Jian presided over the signing ceremony.
The leaders from GRINM Group and its affiliated enterprises, including Yao Guocheng, Xu Ran, Li Zhihui, Liu Yuzhu, Wen Jiankang, Zhang Xiangjun, Liu Ronghui and He Jinjiang, attended the meeting. The leaders from headquarter departments of China Minmetals and its directly-managed enterprises, including Zeng Gang, Liu Lijun, Zhang Shuqiang, Xing Yan, Xiong Xiaobin, Lu Zhifang and Qi Shuyong, were present at the signing ceremony.
