China Machinery Engineering : CMEC 2016 Work Meeting Wrapped up

On January 18 and 19, the 2016 Work Meeting of CMEC was held in Beijing. The meeting was attended by more than 260 persons, including CMEC leaders, departmental heads, heads of domestic subsidiaries, heads of overseas branches, heads of agencies under the trusteeship of CMEC, representatives of former CMEC leaders, retired Party secretaries and representatives of employees.

First of all, CMEC Zhang Chun made a work report titled 'Set a New Goal and Explore a New Model for Effective Promotion of Sustainable Development of CMEC under New Conditions'. At the meeting, some business units and functional departments were commended for their excellent performance in 2015.

CMEC Chairman and Party Secretary Sun Bai and CMEC President Zhang Chun signed Liability Statement on Business Objectives. Then, they signed Liability Statement on Business Objectives and Liability Statement on Improving Party Conduct and Promoting Integrity respectively with all the business units.

In the session of experience exchange, Assistant President Fang Yanshui, the 2nd Complete Plants Division Vice General Manager Shi Jiantao and Engineering Machinery Import & Export Vice General Manager Li Qiying made keynote speeches titled Exchange of Experience in Joint Development of Overseas Markets Together with World-leading Companies including GE, Exchange of Experience in Building Singaporean Regional Center and Lead the Way out of Downturn by Making Breakthroughs and Promoting Industrial Transformation respectively. At the meeting, the promotional video of the five CMEC plazas that are under construction were played.

Concentrating on the work report, the participants of the meeting made heated discussions on the problems arising from corporate operation, management and development. It was widely believed that the work report was comprehensive, objective, realistic and pragmatic. Everyone agreed that CMEC had made encouraging achievements in 2015 which did not come easily and the report did not cover up and evade the problems that have arisen in the course of work and effective measures have been taken against such problems. Everyone agreed that the report has made a clear and specific plan on the work of CMEC in 2016. In the face of the more severe situation, heavier business tasks and greater responsibilities, the report has put forward many constructive opinions and suggestions on the work for 2016.

At the end of the meeting, Zhang, on behalf of the leadership of CMEC, made a conclusion on the deliberations and panel discussions, made a summary on the problems reported, answered in detail questions at the six aspects of investment, innovation, overseas management and market, talent development, integration & collaboration and brand, put forward specific opinions and made work deployment.

Sun made a concluding speech from the aspects of 'giving play to political advantages so as to ensure smooth reform and development of CMEC' and 'building a brand image as a world-class company by strengthening the six systems and talent development'. His speech will surely play a very important role in unifying thinking and building consensus of all employees of the company.

The meeting was dynamic, pragmatic and fruitful as it fully promoted democracy, achieved broad consensus and attained the expected effect.
