Empresa de Energia del Pacifico will install a second power line to Buenaventura port by mid-2016 to meet an expected rise in the local demand. With the expansion of the port, the power demand is expected to surge by between 35% and 60% in 2017. Additionally, the Calima-Buenaventura line will guarantee the supply in case of attacks on existing infrastructure.

The current line to the port area has a capacity for 80 MW, which will be doubled with the new installations. The investment is expected to stand at COP 48 billion (USD 24.8 million/EUR 18.2 million).
