BELLEVUE, WA and OULU, FINLAND--(Marketwired - Jan 8, 2015) -  BSQUARE Corporation (NASDAQ: BSQR), a leading enabler of smart connected systems, and Aava Mobile today announced the availability of Bsquare's MobileV UX software on the Aava Inari5, a five inch mini-tablet, producing a complete handheld solution utilizing the Intel Atom processor and the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system.

"Ruggedized handhelds do not have to compromise on performance and OS choice any more," said Markus Appel, CEO of Aava Mobile Oy, "We offer devices which can be used on the go like traditional retail handhelds and at the office when docked, with similar performance and features as a PC. Retailers are looking for flexibility and longevity. Inari5 allows for easy integration of retail peripherals using Aava's SmartBack technology, so you can easily add barcode scanners, card readers or design your own accessories to address market specific needs."

"Bsquare has a long history of helping our customers bring handheld devices to market. As a result, we understand that retailers, OEMs and other enterprises have big investments in Windows applications that support critical workflows," said Scott Caldwell, VP, Worldwide OEM Sales, Bsquare. "We're delighted that our partnership with Aava allows us to provide retailers with a practical and immediate migration path from their legacy devices to a truly modern mobile platform."

Bsquare makes this migration even easier by offering its MobileV UX software for the Inari5, effectively extending Windows 8 functionality to small screen mobile device form factors.

Aava and Bsquare worked together to ensure that the standard Inari5 and MobileV UX deliver a user experience on the Windows Embedded 8.1 operating system that is optimized for retail scenarios. The MobileV UX software is available pre-installed on Inari5 devices or can be licensed directly from Bsquare.
