BM Mobility Ltd. announced the official launch of RevgoTM, its own brand of electric bicycles now available at University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. The RevgoTM bikes can travel at a speed of up to 20km an hour and as far as 50km on a full charge. Each bike weighs about 40kg. Since its soft launch in July during the semester break where there were approximately 2,000 students on campus, RevgoTM has garnered about 1,000 registered members. Some 170 RevgoTM bikes have been rolled out at University of Malaya, which has a land area of over 300ha (3 sq km) and more than 21,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The campus has eight designated parking sites for the bikes and two charging stations, each of which can charge 24 batteries at a time. The Company monitors the battery life of the bikes in real time using its proprietary app and will swap the batteries for fresh ones on-site when they are low on power. Bookings for the bikes are made through a smartphone app developed by BM Mobility. Payment is through e-wallets, credit cards or debit cards. Users will continue to be charged if they fail to return the two-wheelers to the designated parking sites on campus, as part of efforts to prevent the bikes from obstructing common areas and from being stolen or abused. RevgoTM operates under Malaysia-based UNiRIDE Ecotour Sdn Bhd ("UNiRIDE"), a car sharing business BM Mobility acquired early this year. Founded in 2015, UNiRIDE runs a fleet of Perodua Axia, Malaysia's first energy-efficient car, in University of Malaya and three other universities. UNiRIDE, which is endorsed by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Malaysia Automotive Institute, has exclusive rights to operate in the four universities, which collectively have more than a quarter of a million students. Following the acquisition, BM Mobility added third-party brands of electric scooters to UNiRIDE's rental fleet. RevgoTM is the Company's first in-house electric vehicle brand and the first on-campus electric bicycle sharing platform in Malaysia. BM Mobility intends to introduce the RevgoTM bike sharing service to other universities in Malaysia. It is also considering potential collaborations with establishments like holiday resorts and even growing RevgoTM through franchising.
