Barrick Offers to Engage With Ekō

TORONTO-Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD)(TSX:ABX) ("Barrick" or the "Company") has today offered to engage with representatives of Ekō to understand the basis of underlying allegations they have made and published concerning mines and projects in the Company's portfolio.

In addition, Barrick has invited representatives of Ekō to visit mine sites they claim are operating irresponsibly. The intention of the site visits is to provide Ekō with the actual facts and data on the ground and, in providing this education, demonstrate to Ekō that it has been issuing misinformed and inaccurate statements about Barrick and its operations. If they choose to attend the site visits, representatives of Ekō will also get the opportunity to engage with representatives of the local communities around the mines and witness the numerous initiatives that have been implemented to improve the lives and livelihoods of members of those communities.

We expect that, through this engagement and these site visits, Ekō will gain a contextual understanding of the operating environment at these sites and meet with key stakeholders in the communities. We are confident that this valuable information will satisfy their concerns and allow them to retract unsubstantiated allegations they have repeatedly made.
