Aurizon Holdings Limited reported production results for the quarter and year to date ended December 2016. For the quarter, the company reported coal volumes of 52.3mt compared to 51.8mt a year ago. Coal NTK was 12.5 billion compared to 12.4 billion a year ago. Iron ore volumes 6.0mt compared to 6.2mt a year ago. Iron ore NTK was 2.5 billion compared to 2.5 billion a year ago. Freight volumes were 10.3mt compared to 10.6mt a year ago. Freight NTK was 3.5 billion compared to 3.2 billion a year ago. December quarter 2016 volumes of 52.3mt were 1% higher (0.4mt) compared to the previous corresponding period (pcp) due to stronger NSW volumes. Freight NTKs increased by 10%, despite lower volumes, due to the impact from the increase in interstate intermodal volumes and the loss of QNI volumes (short haul).

For the year to date, the company reported coal volumes of 103.5mt compared to 104.4mt a year ago. Coal NTK was 24.8 billion compared to 25.0 billion a year ago. Iron ore volumes 11.4mt compared to 12.5mt a year ago. Iron ore NTK was 4.7 billion compared to 5.0 billion a year ago. Freight volumes were 20.5mt compared to 22.0mt a year ago. Freight NTK was 6.7 billion compared to 6.5 billion a year ago.

For the year 2017 volume guidance remains at 200-212mt.
