Production Results of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih in 2017
Kryvyi Rih, January 24, 2018. PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih reports on 2017 production results.
Preceding year was not an easy one for the biggest mining and steelmaking company of Ukraine, as it faced many difficulties during the implementation of production program. Due to this fact, the Company could not achieve the record-setting results of 2016. Altogether, the Company worked successfully at the level of 2015. Hot metal output was equal to 5.6 MT, rolled products output - 5.1 MT, equivalent steel (including casting and pig iron output) - 6.35 MT.
Poor condition of the shaft of blast furnace No. 9, which produces about half of total hot metal output, prevented Kryvyi Rih metallurgists from increase in production output. PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is intending to improve its condition very soon in February - capital repair of blast furnace No. 9 and Blooming Shop is planned for that month. This will enable stabilization of their operation and achievement of production targets this year.
Concerning Mining and Coke and By-Product Plant, here was an increase in products output against 2016. The Company managed to increase iron ore mining by 1.5% (up to21.9 MT) and concentrate output - by 1.9% (up to 9.1 MT). Sinter output is at stable level required for production support: output was increased by 0.6% (up to 10.5 MT). There was also an increase in output of bulk coke with 6% moisture - by 19.9% (up to 2.4 MT). This has happened owing to smooth operation of coke-oven batteries No. 3, 4 and start up of coke-oven battery No. 6.

- In 2017, we managed to improve production level at mining sector, to carry out a number of repairs and to stabilize operation of equipment at main shops resulting in increase in main raw materials output. At Steel Plant, we focused on upgrading of production facilities and implementation of investment program. Modernization in 2017 included both repair of main facilities and implementation of environmental projects. Like transfer of THF-6 from overflow to direct-flow mode, reconstruction of BOF shop, modern techniques implementation to decrease dust and gas emissions. Production of steel meeting environmental requirements and standards has always been and remains our priority. In 2018, our intention is to complete a number of investment projects and to start a number of new projects as well as to keep steel output at the level of previous year.
