January 16, 2012 - ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consultancy, design, engineering and management services company, today announced that the company has been awarded the design of a series of design-build sub-projects within the Tours-Bordeaux South Europe Atlantic high speed railway line in France. In addition,

ARCADIS will perform a substantial amount of design for bridge structures along the line. With these additions, the current contract value for ARCADIS related to this project has been extended to close to ?25 million. The company has been involved in this project since the basic design phase.

The Vinci owned concession company (LISEA) realizes for Réseau Ferré de France (RFF), the largest high speed railway line (HSL) project launched in Europe, amounting to a total of ?7.8 billion, which includes ?6.2 billion of infrastructure works and railway equipment. At 300 kilometers in length, the new HSL between Tours and Bordeaux consists of approximately 400 bridges and 17 railway connections and will allow travelers to reach Bordeaux from Paris in 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Under the new contract ARCADIS will manage the group of designers involved in this part of the project and as a result will coordinate the final infrastructure design for two of the 15 geographical segments of the line, including a rail link of 40 km. ARCADIS will also manage the design of seven concrete main bridges, handle associated administrative procedures, geotechnical investigations and the execution of drawings approvals.

In addition the Infrastructure Contractors Consortium (SGI) awarded ARCADIS the design and external control of more than 250 main bridges, as well as the design of two segments of earth & civil works including earthworks, access restoration, hydraulics and environmental work, and two railway connections for about 60 kilometers.

"This important next phase in one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe underlines the importance central governments are giving to the economic contribution of infrastructure development. It is also encouraging to see that these public-private partnership projects are gaining interest among investors, providing governments an alternative source of funding, and investors a long term attractive and secure investment opportunity," said Harrie Noy, CEO of ARCADIS.
