Anglo American Platinum Ltd. on Thursday reiterated 2022 guidance after its platinum group metals production dropped in the second quarter.

The South African mining company, which is majority owned by Anglo American PLC, continues to expect refined PGM production of 4.0 million-4.4 million ounces at a cost of 14,000 rand-15,000 rand ($816.4-$874.7).

In the second quarter, Anglo American Platinum said its production fell 8% to 1.24 million ounces. Sales volumes were down 16% at 1.21 million ounces.

"Lower mined production was due to Mogalakwena mining through a low-grade area in line with the mine plan," Chief Executive Natascha Viljoen said.
