AmBank Islamic Berhad (AmBank Islamic) and Tabung Waqaf Rakyat Johor (TWRJ), a unit under Perbadanan Islam Johor (PIJ) today signed an agreement with JomPAY to provide added convenience, accessibility and flexibility to the public and corporate sector to make their Waqaf contributions to TWRJ.

This partnership is part of AmBank Islamic and PIJ's efforts to make it easier for the public as well as the corporate sector to make their Waqaf contributions to TWRJ. With this partnership, TWRJ are anticipating a significant increase in contributions, with enhanced efficiency in payments collection. Through JomPAY, donors can make contributions via the internet banking, mobile banking and ATMs of banks in Malaysia anytime, anywhere.
PIJ, a statutory body under the State Government of Johor, was appointed on 26 January 2016 as 'Nazir Khas' Pembangunan Waqaf Negeri Johor by Majlis Agama Islam Johor (MAIJ). TWRJ was established by PIJ with the objectives to collect Waqaf contributions through Waqaf tunai (individuals, corporates and salary deductions) and make Shariah compliant investments. In addition, TWRJ would promote the awareness of the Waqaf institution in Johor and draft a socio-economic welfare programme for the benefit of the Islamic society in Johor.

JomPAY is Malaysia's national bill payment scheme established and operated by Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyClear), with the participation of banks and a growing number of over 1,400 billers.

The agreement between AmBank Islamic and PIJ was signed by Eqhwan Mokhzanee, Chief Executive Officer, AmBank Islamic and Tuan Haji Zulkiflee bin Abbas, General Manager, PIJ and witnessed by Dato' Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin, Chief Minister of Johor, Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman, AmBank Group and Mr Tay Gim Soon, Chief Operating Officer, MyClear.
Perbadanan Islam Johor participation in JomPAY is powered by AmBank Group's Transaction Banking which provides one-stop wholesale banking solution in cash management, trade finance and remittances.
