African Minerals Limited announced the appointment of Stephan Weber as the Group's Chief Operating Officer with effect from 1 February 2013. Mr. Weber (aged 51) joins AML from Anglo American, where he was chief executive officer of Anglo American Iron Ore Brazil, and was also a member of Anglo American's group executive committee. In this role, which he held from mid-2009, he was responsible for the commissioning and ramp-up of the 6.5Mtpa Amapá Iron Ore system incorporating a mine, 200km rail, and port, as well as overseeing the $6 billion 26.5Mtpa Minas Rio project.

Prior to his most recent role with Anglo American, he was managing director of Rio Tinto's "HIsmelt" division. In this role, he was also a member of the executive committee of Rio Tinto Iron Ore.
