Aamal Company subsidiary Aamal Readymix increases production capacity by over 60% with launch of one of the Middle East's largest concrete batching plants

Doha, Qatar - 9 January 2012 - Aamal Company Q.S.C. ("Aamal"), one of the GCC's fastest growing diversified conglomerates, today announces the full commissioning and operation of its subsidiary Aamal Readymix's new, state-of-the-art ELBA ready mix concrete batching plant in the Industrial area, increasing total production capacity from 374,000 cubic metres to 600,000 cubic metres per annum.

ELBA is the fourth and newest of Aamal Readymix's plants in Qatar. A high-tech production facility, it is the company's largest concrete batching plant as well as one of the largest in the Middle East. With a production capacity of 200 cubic metres of concrete per hour, ELBA has an inbuilt wet mix facility, which significantly improves efficiency by reducing dust and dry mix emissions.

In line with Aamal Readymix's strategic focus on product quality and efficiency, the ELBA facility also comprises a newly-built Snowkey ice plant and integrated water chiller producing chilled water and ice flakes, used for temperature control in the concrete production process, at a daily capacity of 100 metric tonnes of 2mm ice flakes and 360 cubic metres of chilled water.

Executed using the latest, environmentally-friendly construction technologies, Aamal Readymix was awarded a membership certificate by the Qatar Green Building Council in November 2011 in recognition of its efforts to promote sustainable building practices.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed Bin Faisal Al Thani, Vice Chairman of Aamal Company said:

"Aamal Readymix is one of the first companies established within Aamal's Industrial Manufacturing division which continues to be one of the Group's principal growth drivers in the short to medium term, with the new ELBA plant reflecting our commitment to growth and innovation. This significant expansion in the scope and quality of our ready mix production and distribution base further enhances our competitive advantage in this important market and positions us well to capitalise on the increasing demand we are witnessing, driven by the huge pipeline of new infrastructure and other construction investment activity in Qatar."
