TAIPEI, June 21 (Reuters) - Taiwan government said on Friday it "deeply regrets" China's move to impose the death penalty in extreme cases for what it called "diehard" Taiwan independence separatists.

The government urged people "not to be threatened and intimidated" by China, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council said in a statement. China has no jurisdiction over Taiwan at all, and its so-called laws and norms have no binding force on our people, the statement said.
