USA: oil inventories down last week (EIA)
Crude inventories fell by 12.2 million barrels last week in the United States, to 448.5 million barrels, the data show.
Gasoline inventories also fell by 2.2 million barrels, as did those of distillates, including diesel and heating oil, which fell by 1.5 million barrels, according to EIA data.
Oil prices, which were already up before these figures, extended their gains a little after these announcements, with US light crude now up 0.5% at over $83.2.
