Producers of metals and other raw materials rose as the U.S. dollar gained after the Bank of England laid the groundwork for future rate cuts, while the Swiss National Bank cut rates for the second time this year.

Gold futures rose 1% to $2,353.80 a troy ounce and silver gained 4.3% to $30.78 an ounce.
