The president went on to describe Reid's scrappy upbringing and the common values they each shared.
"If Harry said he was going to do something, he did it," Biden added, going on to attribute this quality to his many accomplishments in Congress.
Biden, who served in the Senate for some 36 years, said Reid was one of the best majority leaders in history.
