NEWS RELEASE Westmoreland Coal Company Opens Billings Office Englewood, CO - January 30, 2013 - Westmoreland Coal Company (NasdaqGM:WLB) today announced the opening of a new office in Billings, Montana. This new location strengthens Westmoreland's presence in Montana and offers a single location for core operational personnel to be stationed. Westmoreland has been a member of the Montana business community since the early 1970s and currently owns and operates three mines in the state. On average, Westmoreland produces approximately 15 million tons of coal a year from its Montana mines and employs approximately 500 individuals."We are delighted to announce the opening of our new Billings office," said Robert P.
