Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that partner Jill Sebest Welch has been named the new chair of the firm's Employment Practice Group.
Welch joined the firm in 2005, and brings nearly two decades of legal experience to her new leadership role. In addition to the Employment Practice Group, she also is a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group and the Food & Agribusiness, Construction and Banking industry groups. She has been named a Pennsylvania 'Super Lawyer' for seven years, and is a graduate of the Rutgers Law School in New Jersey.
The move took effect Jan. 1. Welch succeeds past chair Jennifer Craighead Carey, a partner at the firm who will continue her excellent service to clients as a member of the practice group.
'David Keller and Jennifer Craighead Carey, the two immediate past chairs of our group, spent years establishing the type of client-focused service the group has come to be known and respected for,' Welch said. 'It is my intention to continue their legacy to position Barley Snyder as the preeminent legal resource for businesses in central Pennsylvania in all areas of employment law compliance and risk management, litigation, traditional labor, employee benefits, workers compensation, immigration, affirmative action, wage and hour litigation, employment contracts and non-compete matters, workplace investigations, training and education law.'
Craighead Carey said she has no doubt that she's transferring the group's leadership position to an exceptionally qualified candidate in Welch.
'Jill has been a vital asset both in our Employment Practice Group and at our firm for years,' Craighead Carey said. 'The group certainly is in very capable hands not only now, but also in the long-term as well.'
