The registered unemployment rate remains the same

The registered unemployment rate in Slovenia in November 2013 remained the same, it was 13.0%. Compared to the previous month the registered unemployment rate for men was the same (12.1%) while for women it decreased by 0.1 of a percentage point to 14.1%.

Age group analysis shows that the registered unemployment rate decreased only for people aged 50 years or more, mainly because of the lower number of registered unemployed persons and the higher number of persons in employment. The registered unemployment rate remained the highest among young people aged 15-24 (32.4%); compared to the previous month it increased by 0.6 of a percentage point, mainly due to the higher number of registered unemployed persons (by 319).

This time the registered unemployment rate decreased only in Koroška and Osrednjeslovenska statistical regions. It increased the most (by 0.3 of a percentage point) in Pomurska (which has the highest unemployment rate), Spodnjeposavska and Notranjsko-kraška statistical regions.

Almost the same number of persons in employment

Compared to the previous month, the number of persons in employment in November 2013 increased by almost 300. At the end of November 2013 there were almost 798,200 persons in employment; 55.0% of them were men. Compared to November 2012 the number of persons in employment decreased almost by 6,800, while the number of self-employed persons increased almost by 3,300.

On the territory of Slovenia around 2,000 persons found their first jobs in November

Data from the Statistical Register of Employment show that around 2,000 persons found their first jobs on the territory of Slovenia in November; 78.5% of them were younger than 30 years. According to the employment relationship the majority of them (over 1,400) concluded employment contracts for a fixed period of time.
