PatientPoint® today announced a strategic partnership with ION Solutions to offer patient and physician education and engagement solutions to ION Solutions' national network of oncology practices. ION Solutions represents more than half of the community-based oncology market in the United States.

"This partnership will bring PatientPoint PracticeWire® and Exam Room Tablet programs to oncologists and patients within the ION network, ensuring timely content on developments in cancer research and clinical care as well as targeted patient education," said Chris Martini, president of network solutions at PatientPoint, a leader and innovator in patient engagement solutions, including care coordination platforms, patient education programs, and tools to support and facilitate patient-provider communication.

Under the strategic alliance, PatientPoint will exclusively offer its PracticeWire® oncology program to ION Solutions’ 4,500 oncology members in community-based cancer centers across the country. PracticeWire® provides busy physicians and office staff with an innovative real-time communications system that keeps them up-to-date on medical and oncology news and the latest drug information from sponsors. PracticeWire® also reinforces practice management policies and helps drive improved patient outcomes. Information is delivered on a digital screen in a clinical area with content customized specifically for oncology practices.

Through its leading-edge Exam Room Tablet Program, PatientPoint will also provide ION Solutions' member oncologists with education targeted to cancer patients in the examination room or chemotherapy infusion areas. "Our targeted approach empowers oncology practices by giving them the ability to educate and message patients or deliver information from sponsors," said Martini. "It's a dynamic and integrated strategy for helping to improve patient-physician partnerships and health outcomes. We look forward to expanding our 61,000-strong physician network with a leader in oncology, ION Solutions."

The PatientPoint Exam Room Tablet will include content licensed from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s patient information website, Cancer.Net, as well as Mayo Clinic. It also incorporates targeted, HIPAA-compliant delivery of personalized health education to patients, while offering access to relevant patient support programs and savings. It can also extend the patient-learning experience through email functionality and drive patient portal enrollment and traffic to support Meaningful Use.

“The PatientPoint partnership accelerates access to award-winning patient education and the latest developments in cancer research for our members and their patients,” said Brian Ansay, senior vice president of sales and corporate services at ION Solutions. ”PatientPoint’s technology also supports the practice workflow and an optimal patient experience.” ION Solutions acts as a group purchasing organization for community-based oncologists, and provides the technologies, resources and expertise they need to improve clinical and operational management.
