Producers of metals and other raw materials fell as the dollar rebounded against other currencies, reflecting concerns about further civil unrest.

House Democrats laid out their case to impeach President Trump for an unprecedented second time ahead of an expected vote, alleging he encouraged a mob to storm the U.S. Capitol as part of an effort to overturn Democrat Joe Biden's election win.

Corn futures opened trading up 2.5% after rising Tuesday by the maximum allowed by the Chicago Board of Trade to more than $5.17 per bushel, as traders responded to a U.S. Department of Agriculture report showing corn production falling short of expectations.
