FTSE 100 Seen Falling as Asia Stocks Drop, Oil Rises
The FTSE 100 is expected to open 130 points lower at 6857, according to CMC Markets, after downbeat trading in Asia. Markets in mainland China, Hong Kong and Japan fall and the price of a barrel of Brent crude rises 9% to $128.9 amid reports that the U.S. could ban Russian oil imports. "This news has prompted oil prices to surge even further this morning and in turn markets in Asia to slide sharply as concerns over demand destruction and a global recession increase," CMC says. "Consequently, markets here in Europe look set to face further pressure this morning with further sharp declines."
