Government of New Brunswick : Opportunities NB recognized as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers

FREDERICTON (GNB) - Opportunities NB has been recognized as one of Atlantic Canada's Top Employers for 2017.

Currently in its 9th year, Atlantic Canada's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This year's winners were announced in the January 2017 issue of Atlantic Business Magazine.

The designation, which recognizes employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work, examined the following criteria:

• work atmosphere and social;

• health, financial and family benefits;

• training and skills development; and

'Opportunities NB has created a positive culture in a short amount of time,' said Economic Development Minister Francine Landry, who is also minister responsible for Opportunities NB. 'It is tremendous to see that their commitment to a culture of proactive and accountable professionals has been recognized.'

The organization was formed when the previous Department of Economic Development and Invest NB merged on April 1, 2015. It has built a team from both the public and private sectors, with 72 employees at head office in Fredericton and 49 staff in regional offices.

'We are thrilled to be included in the 2017 list of Atlantic Canada's Top Employers,' said CEO Stephen Lund. 'We believe that our strength lies in our culture driven by our team of highly-motivated and passionate people.'

Opportunities NB is a Crown corporation that seeks to attract and support opportunities to grow the economy and create jobs. It provides support services for businesses across the province.
