End of an Era is Declared as Study Shows Why Mexican Immigrants Are Choosing to Return to Mexico in Historic Numbers

First Time Study Reveals Factors behind a Major Shift in Reverse Migration from the U.S. to Mexico

Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together:

WHAT:			In a news conference hosted by Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together (MATT) and the Wilson Center Mexico Institute, the results of an unprecedented study - The U.S. Mexico Cycle: The End of an Era. - will tell, for the first time, the other half of the immigration story.
			Previously, it was known why and how Mexican immigrants came to the U.S. but not why approximately 1.4 million Mexicans, between 2005 and 2010, have chosen to return home. Now, through a comprehensive study with 600 returning immigrants, MATT has gathered data that provides an in-depth and never-before look into the factors driving return migration.
			The study's findings will detail:
			? The reasons why immigrants overwhelmingly returned to Mexico on their own
			? Their life back in Mexico
			? If they plan to return to the U.S.
			? Their view of the U.S.
			MATT is a bi-national non-profit with offices in Washington, D.C., Mexico City and San Antonio, Texas. It is dedicated to leading the conversation on the issues that are having a profound effect on both the U.S. and Mexico. MATT conducted the study as part of its Yo Soy Mexico initiative. The program's goal is to match returning immigrants with job, education and investment opportunities in Mexico. The study is a result of collaboration between MATT, Southern Methodist University and the Government of Jalisco, Mexico.
