EEX European Energy Exchange : Action Required – Final Settlement Prices for Power Month Futures December 2017

The final settlement prices for Power Futures are determined on the EPEX Spot SE Day-Ahead spot market after the last auction of the respective delivery period. Due to the seven days trading, situations can arise in which the auction for the last delivery day of the period takes place on a Saturday or a Sunday. As a result of this, either the expiry dates of the contracts concerned have to be adjusted in the EUREX system (scenario A) or, if required, a ma-nual balancing entry (scenario B) has to be carried out (see EEX Customer Information from 15 January 2014).

In December 2017 scenario B materialized: As the last delivery day of the affected contracts is a Sunday the adjustment of the expiry dates is not possible. For this reason, these contracts already expire in the EUREX system on Friday, as it has been the case so far. However, the final settlement prices can only be determined after the auction.

Thus, on 29 December 2017 the EEX determined preliminary final settlement prices for the following future contracts and adjusted them on 2 January 2018 as follows:

Final settlement prices are now available in the relevant files on the sftp server mis.eex.com and on the EEX website in accordance with the related EEX Customer Information from 2 January 2018.
