Mayor Judy Ritter delivered her 2017 State of the City Address on Monday, January 23, during the Vista Chamber of Commerce State of the Community program. The event was held at the Vista Civic Center.

Mayor Ritter's State of the City Address highlighted some of the City's past year's significant accomplishments, including investing $4.2 million in road and infrastructure improvements and $9 million over the past two years in renovating, retrofitting, and upgrading the City's 13 parks.

'This past September, the City Council and I approved a Traffic Congestion Management Plan outlining almost $500,000 for projects designed to improve traffic flow,' said Mayor Ritter. 'Beginning this July, we will also be setting aside another $150,000 a year, on an annual basis.'

During her presentation, Mayor Ritter announced Karl and Peggy Ramsing, benefactors of the local arts, as the 2016 Persons of the Year. The Ramsings were recognized for their many community contributions to public art and local artist in Vista over the years.

Wrapping up her address, the Mayor concluded, 'I am confident the results of our work over the past year will serve as a solid foundation for building a strong and prosperous future for Vista.'

The Mayor's speech and a list of the significant City of Vista accomplishments for the year, 2016 are posted online.
