Portland General Electric has big news regarding a price reduction for 2016 and a Clean Electricity and Coal Transition Plan. Please find the attached press releases regarding a Reduction in PGE Prices for 2016 and the Clean Electricity and Coal Transition Plan.

Reduction in PGE prices for 2016:

The press release states, 'The Oregon Public Utility Commission has announced approval of overall price reductions for Portland General Electric customers of about 2.5 percent beginning Jan. 1, 2016.' Industrial rates, specifically schedules 89 and 90, will see a 3.6 percent decrease.

Clean Electricity and Coal Transition Plan:

  • PGE is supportive of a legislative package that will increase the amount of power we must generate using renewable resources to 50% by 2040, This is up from the current legislation that requires 25% by 2025.
  • The Plan would also make PGE coal-free by 2035. This is on top of our commitment to close Oregon's only coal plant by 2020.
  • This legislation will be proposed in the 2016 legislative 'short session' and has the support of a diverse and strong coalition of stakeholders.
