Jan 11 (Reuters) - Argentina's central bank will put into circulation 10,000 and 20,000-peso bills later this year, the bank announced in a statement on Thursday, after the South American nation's annual inflation rate sped past 211% in December.

The bank added a 2,000-peso bill just last year, currently the largest-denomination bank note available.

The still larger bills will go into circulation as new libertarian President Javier Milei seeks to head off hyperinflation with tough austerity measures following data earlier in the day that showed that the rate of rising consumer prices hit its highest level since the early 1990s.
