Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin announced it has named Leon Lamoreaux the new president of its Medicaid health plan, effective today. In this role, Lamoreaux will be responsible for leading the Medicaid business, focusing on long-term growth opportunities for Anthem Medicaid in the state of Wisconsin.

Lamoreaux joins Anthem from New West Health Services, a not-for-profit, provider sponsored health plan in Montana where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Previously, he held leadership roles in Government Programs and Business Development at a number of health care companies, including Geisinger Health Plan, Priority Health, Anthem, Excellus, Regence and Intermountain Healthcare.

“Leon brings deep business experience and healthcare knowledge to his new role, and his leadership will be vital as we continue to grow our Medicaid footprint and serve our members in the state of Wisconsin,” said Dr. Tunde Sotunde, North Region Medicaid President for Anthem.

Lamoreaux earned his Masters in Business Administration from Brigham Young University, and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Columbia College in Salt Lake City, Utah. He will be based in Anthem’s Waukesha office.
