Donald Trump. Today, summit meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker. Via his favorite social network, he addressed himself directly to the EU: " I have an idea for them. Both the U.S. and the E.U. drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do it, we are ready - but they won’t!". Assumed pessimism or warning? The answer this afternoon.

France. Emmanuel Macron finally spoke about the Benalla affair, stating: "the only person in charge is me, let them come and get me". It assumes full responsibility for the crisis that has shaken the Elysée for a week now, a good way to buy some time until the end of the various investigations on the matter.

United States. US farmers will receive $12 billion in emergency aid to offset "illegal" tariffs on soy, fruit, rice and milk, among others. Since the beginning of the trade dispute, soybeans have dropped by 25% (see chart below). But these subsidies have yet to fully reassure farmers, who feel at the mercy of the decisions of their President.

Brexit. Theresa May takes the reins alone over Brexit, putting Brexit minister, Dominic Raab, on the sideline. Supporters of a hard Brexit denounce a "coup", since the Prime Minister has increasingly been isolating herself from those who criticize her.
